Finding a cleaning service in Geneva is not the hard part — there are hundreds. The hard part, especially if you have just arrived and the whole market publishes in French, is knowing which service you actually need, what a fair price looks like when nobody prints one, and whether the people who ring your doorbell are declared and insured.
Which service do you need?
Cleaning is not one job. These are the ten we do, and the reason you would pick each one. Every line opens its own page.
- Move out / end of lease You are leaving a flat and it will be inspected room by room against the record made when you moved in. This is the one with a deadline you do not control and a deposit attached to it.
- Residential cleaning Your own home, kept clean — regularly, or once, deeply. Flats, houses and villas, including sofas and mattresses.
- Office & commercial Business premises, shops and professional spaces, normally on a recurring contract outside working hours.
- Buildings & caretaking Common areas of apartment buildings for managing agents and owners' associations: stairwells, halls, lifts, technical rooms.
- Post-construction After building or renovation work: construction dust, adhesive residue, paint marks, protective film.
- Windows & façades Windows, frames and façades, including work at height.
- Carpets & upholstery Rugs, fitted carpet, sofas, armchairs and mattresses, cleaned in your home — nothing is dismantled or taken away.
- Terraces Terraces, balconies and outdoor floors: moss, black deposits in the joints, wood greyed by UV.
- Clearance Emptying a flat, a cellar or business premises, and taking what has to go to the right disposal stream. Priced on volume, not surface.
- Interior painting Repainting before you hand the keys back, or between tenants. Surfaces prepared first; the place is handed back cleaned.
Not sure which line is yours? The end-of-lease calculator asks for a surface area and gives a number without asking for your phone number: calculate a price.
What cleaning costs in Geneva
One rate is published, because one service can honestly be priced without seeing the property: end-of-lease cleaning at CHF 10 per m², whatever the surface, everything included. A 40 m² studio is around CHF 400; a 70 m² three-room flat around CHF 700.
Everything else is quoted individually and deliberately so. Offices are priced on frequency and staffing, post-construction on how much residue the site left, clearance on volume, windows on count and access. A company that quotes those over the phone without asking is guessing, and the guess is corrected on the invoice.
Checked on 6 August 2026: of four Geneva cleaning companies compared, none published any rate on their website. The published number is the point — it is checkable before you call.
Hiring a cleaning company in Switzerland: four things you can verify
- A company number Swiss companies are listed in the commercial register with an IDE/UID number. Vertnet Nettoyage Sàrl is CHE-391.574.443, registered at Promenade du Décanat 9, 1233 Bernex. You can look that up without asking us.
- Declared staff Cleaners must be declared for social insurance. Undeclared work is common in this trade and it is the client who carries the exposure if something happens in their home.
- Liability insurance Civil liability cover for damage caused during the work — a scratched parquet floor, a broken fitting. Ask for it in writing.
- A written quote A price named before anyone starts, not after. If a company will not put a figure in writing, that is the information.
Where we work
The canton of Geneva and the Nyon district in canton Vaud, with no travel surcharge anywhere in that area: Geneva city, Carouge, Lancy, Vernier, Meyrin, Onex, Plan-les-Ouates, Thônex, Grand-Saconnex, Chêne-Bougeries, and across the border of the canton in Nyon, Gland, Founex and Coppet.
Written in French you will see the city as Genève — the same place, and the spelling every local company, contract and inspection form uses.
When another company is the better choice
Three cases where we are not the right call, said plainly because you will find out anyway:
- A one-off two-hour clean For a small flat in good condition with a flexible date, an hourly provider such as Batmaid is cheaper than a per-m² company and will suit you better. Our pricing assumes a full property.
- Regulated environments Cleanrooms, pharmaceutical and laboratory spaces need a specialist certified for them. We do not publish that competence and will not take the work.
- An unconditional promise Some companies advertise a guaranteed deposit return. No cleaning company controls what the managing agent writes on the inspection form, so that promise cannot be kept. What we do commit to: if a point is flagged, we come back and put it right at our cost, and if the result still does not satisfy you, we refund our own invoice.
Frequently asked questions
How much do cleaning services cost in Geneva?
End-of-lease cleaning is published at CHF 10 per m², whatever the surface, everything included — around CHF 700 for a 70 m² three-room flat. Offices, post-construction, windows, carpets and terraces are quoted individually because they are measured differently.
Do you offer cleaning services in Geneva in English?
Yes. Quotes, scheduling and the handover on site can all be in English, and the written quote can be issued in English. We are based in Bernex in the canton of Geneva and also cover the Nyon district with no travel surcharge.
What should I check before hiring a cleaning company in Switzerland?
A commercial-register number, staff declared for social insurance, civil liability insurance, and a written quote naming the price before the work starts. All four are things you can verify yourself.
Which cleaning service do I need?
It follows from why you are cleaning: leaving a flat is end-of-lease cleaning, keeping your own is residential, business premises are office cleaning, and after building work it is post-construction. Windows, carpets, terraces, clearance and painting are separate services above.
